In early February 2025, Sprinturf, a PlayCore company, hosted the Healthy Spaces Council meeting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, bringing together architects and industry experts focused on recreation and play space design. The event featured discussions on sustainability, accessibility, performance testing, and playground surfacing.
Notable speakers included Amy Phinney from NOVA Chemicals on synthetic turf recycling, accessibility consultant Bill Botten on inclusive recreation spaces, Jeff Gentile of Firefly Sports Testing on sports surface performance, and PlayCore’s Tom DiScipio on playground surfacing options. A panel of leading play and recreation companies also shared insights on the future of recreation space design.
The meeting also introduced the LEAP Grant Program, offering matching funds to schools, local governments, and community organizations for developing innovative, inclusive athletic fields and play areas using synthetic turf. The application deadline for this program is March 15, 2025.
