Industry Leader Robbins Sports Surfaces Acquired by L2 Capital in Strategic Growth Move

L2 Capital, a private equity firm, has recently acquired Robbins Sports Surfaces, Inc., a leading manufacturer of hardwood sports flooring. Robbins, founded in 1894 and based in Cincinnati, is a family-run business specializing in hardwood basketball floors used by schools and professional teams, including NCAA and NBA. They are unique in the industry for being vertically integrated, controlling most aspects of production from sourcing logs to manufacturing floors for various sports and dance applications. The company is known for its innovative and safe flooring solutions and primarily distributes its products through a respected dealer network and directly to major NBA teams. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Bob Levine, the Managing Partner of L2 Capital, expressed excitement about partnering with Robbins to provide top-quality surfaces for athletes at all levels. Todd Braun, President and CEO of Robbins, shared similar enthusiasm for the partnership, seeing it as an opportunity for growth and better service to their customers. L2 Capital, known for its success in scaling family-run businesses and producing top quartile returns, plans to leverage its strategic planning and execution framework to further Robbins’ growth. The transaction was supported by debt financing from PNC Business Credit and Merion Investment Partners, with Merion also making a co-investment. SDR Ventures advised Robbins during the process.
