GeoSurfaces, a TenCate company, has been selected to install new Pivot Performance Turf at Southern Arkansas University’s Wilkins Stadium as part of a three-phase football facilities enhancement project announced on April 14, 2026.
The turf installation is part of Phase 2, which is scheduled to begin in early summer. The existing artificial surface will be removed and replaced with Pivot Performance Turf, a system designed to deliver grass-like performance without performance infill while supporting traction, speed, cutting, and all-weather play. With the upgrade, SAU is expected to become one of the first universities in the country to feature the new turf technology.
GeoSurfaces will also serve as the general contractor for the broader improvement project. The company has previously completed several athletics facility upgrades on SAU’s campus, including renovations to Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field, Dawson Field at the Dr. Margaret Downing Softball Complex, the Dawson Athletic Complex, and the Mulerider Track and Field Complex.
Phase 1 of the project will begin later this month and will focus on modernizing Wilkins Stadium’s exterior with new metal, brick, and signage. Phase 3 will be announced later.
The first two phases have been fully funded through private gifts and pledges from alumni and supporters, and donor recognition, including select naming rights, will take place after all phases are complete.
